Subnautica is fun (spoilers)

Online Subnautica Base Builder. Hand-drawn user flairs by Tikara on Tumblr. Question Game boring after cyclopse? So i've been playing subnautica for about 23 hours on this save. I just build the cyclops and i've sort of instantly become bored of the game. I don't find myself excited to play it anymore. I'm just finding the cyclops so frustrating, so clunky and slow to move and endlessly beeping and complaining about stuff.

But basically you wanna explore quite deep to progress to the endgame where it gets really interesting and the story starts to make a lot of sense.

Just a heads up that if you've got the Cyclops and you've been to the Aurora, you may be pretty close to the end of the radio signals. To advance the plot, you should have received one from Alterra HQ telling you that they've sent a blueprint for an escape rocket to the Aurora's command terminal. The grappling arm allows mobility in most situations, but slogging across the bottom with the arm takes wayyy longer than even the clunky cyclops.

If you attach the grapple to the floor in front of you then run up and boost you go pretty quick. I was trying to figure out if people knew of a non-cyclops way to move the suit without walking everywhere. The Cyclops isn't really meant to be an exploration vehicle so much as a mobile base: you can build a fabricator, a bunch of lockers, and a small indoor garden in it.

The idea is to park it near where you want to explore and then use the Seamoth or the Prawn depending on depth for all your excursions. Besides, the game has other things to keep you occupied once you get to them. That explains it. Also your question about it being worth killing leviathans.

Absolutley, I killed a few in my playtrough slight warning tho there are a lot of them around the aurora and you need to kill a lot of them to notice a difference. Heres a tip, go deeper. Use the cyclops to carry items and prawn suit deeper conserving power and having space for more. The cyclops is an assisting craft not something you explore with.

Its a bus not an offroader something like that. But fr go deeper if youre only like 20 ish hours into the game and you think youre done you havent gone deep enough. I have built two seamoths, and I escaped my first reaper hence the two sea moths. One is abandoned far, far away near an island to the west-sh when I ditched it when it was in a reaper's tentacles.

That was a scary swim home. I have an aquarium of hoverfish an one of gasbags. I have picked the ores clean in the safe reef. So, now my apparent catch 22's. Basically I need a part to go into a place where I need the part to survive.

At least it feels that way. When I see on the wiki that some of the wrecks are m down, and I can't kill the little land jumping Starro babies with a knife.

It takes 2 hits I believe and the issue is just managing to get the hitbox right. Don't go for the Stasis Rifle. Never lose one to a Reaper again!Keep in mind that new players come here all the time, and it'd suck to spoil them on the story, creatures, or biomes they haven't seen yet.

It looked like I was starting to get some momentum, I made the seamoth, watched the sunbeam event, explored this green alien tower thing and a machine got something in my arm. After that though, nothing, I'm at a loss.

I've been exploring for a few days now after work but there's nothing new, I've been counting and I have found a grand total of 16 laser cutters to scan lol, can't find the unknown items I need to even build my first base and theres no general objective.

What do you usually do at this point? If you're finding a lot of the same technology, it means that you need to keep exploring further out. Try picking a direction and going as far and deep as you can. Also make sure to follow all the radio signals, and maybe try exploring near the areas where the signals told you to go. Good luck! No new radio signals yet and I haven't been able to go deeper, I've reached max depth of before it kills me lol.

You need to get depth modules which can be made from the moon pool you can find their fragments in the sand dunes. Definitely this. I got to a point where there were no new signals and I was stuck. Made depth modules and there was something I found at the very limit of a maxxed out seamoth that started the story back up again.

I got a bit stuck there too. You actually DO have a guide to follow - it's just not a beacon. Read the reports you got from the alien base for general instructions on where to go. Every location it mentions exists. Also, did you find Second Officer Keen's pod? It has a rendezvous picked for any other survivors read: you to check out. There's another plot thread there. I would head about a kilometer southwest from where you landed.

Who knows, you may find something interesting in that general area. Find the moonpool fragments just keep exploring to find thesebuild the moonpool, then build a depth module for your sea moth. If you haven't built the radiation suit or gotten parts for it I found bits of it closer to the Aurora, but outside of the radiation zone. I would do that and suggest investigating the crash site if you haven't already. Without spoiling anything about that area, I would suggest to keep your wits about you and bring enough supplies for a longish journey dry food, water, an extra battery.

It can take a while to explore the whole wreck. Did you read in detail the pda data you got in the cannon tower? There are information useful to the progression of the story. In your pda look at the tips and clues bit, there's some info about other sites to find. It appears in there after exploring the big gun facility. Around the back of the ship is where you can find some cyclops fragments and a few reapers.

You can find the other needed cyclops fragments in the mushroom forest.Home Discussions Workshop Market Broadcasts. Change language. Install Steam. Store Page. Subnautica Store Page. Global Achievements. This topic has been locked.

Last edited by Twilight ; 5 Jan, am. Originally posted by Twilight :. Anyway, the full release is supposed to be due end of this month. Not everything is for everyone. You are right, a big part is coming around and exploring, find the wreck pieces, discover the notes of the previous visitors and gather all the tech you might need. I didn't want to post spoilers, but i assume you know how the story goes already anyway. Therefore i am not sure what your knowledge of the whole story is. So in itself, the story is not too much and you can sum it up on half a page.

But as exploring and putting all the pieces of the puzzle together is part of the game to solve the riddle of the planet, i think it is worthwile entertainment for the price asked. For example I like to have signs that say "Bio Lab" on top of hallway going to bioreactor or "moonpool" "scanner room" "etc" make the signs big and colourful so you see them. It helps prevent going the wrong direction and is immersive cuz I imagine a high tech seabase would be very well coordinated.

Also: Stop hating on the warpers. They have feelings too, ya'know. March You forgot Because I'm a broken man, I've been spending some time contemplating what a Subnautica speedrun would look like, and have been repeatedly starting new hardcore games to get a feel for how to rapidly progress from Lifepod5 to the endgame such as it exists at the moment.

There's a few things I'm not sure on, and before I start my own thread I figured I'd ask around here where most of the people who have already explored most of the content are giving themselves extra challenges for fun: what are the specific conditions that cause the Aurora's drive core containment to fail?

I've timed it a few times, but it doesn't seem to be set on a specific timer, and I can't seem to figure out what the other conditions are. Is it distance? Repairing lifepod5? Having a Seaglide? Or is it semi-random? March edited March Slightly ashamed to admit it.
